Inadequate certification looms in future of embedded software

The embedded technology industry continues to have a love/hate relationship with third-party tools and services.  Mostly hate.  Every embedded design product/service provider continues to say their primary competition is in-house providers.  But no where is the practice of in-house provision more dangerous and costly than software certification.  Just ask Toyota about that.

Certification is not becoming easier, it is not becoming less expensive, and getting it right is not just a good idea; it is a matter of life and death.  So we sat down with LDRA has been around for forty years automated analysis and testing tools for software in the aerospace, defense, nuclear, medical and automotive sectors.  We sat down at talked with them at #EELive last week to talk about the barriers to proper certification practices.  See the interview in the video below.
